Raúl Pérez is a winegrower and one of the best winemakers in the world. In Bierzo he is an unavoidable reference and is also considered the father of the new Ribeira Sacra. A restless and prolific man, it is common to find him sharing collective projects or with friends, and advising other wineries and producers.
In 1996 he began to make fluid and personal wines and a year later he assumed full control of Castro Ventosa, since his uncles, responsible until then for the business, were already older; In 1999 he learned a lot from Álvaro Palacios and even collaborated with him on the first productions that would later become the wines of the Descendientes de J. Palacios winery as he also did in the first vintages of Bodegas Peique.
