Vinsanto del
Chianti Classico

Vinsanto | Toscana | Famiglia Losi

Discover Vin Santo del Chianti Classico, the "Sacred Wine" of Tuscany, made from grapes carefully dried like raisins. A must-try dessert wine, amber-colored and highly age-worthy, it reflects the rich and historic winemaking tradition dating back to the Middle Ages.

Vin Santo del Chianti Classico is made using the "passito" technique. The grapes are placed on mats or hung from the rafters of the winery, beginning a drying process that lasts for months, where they wither until they become raisins. This deliberate drying concentrates their sugars and flavors.

The Losi family estate has 22 hectares of vineyards and 50 hectares of olive groves. They use a combination of traditional wood and cement for fermentation, as well as large botti and wooden barrels for aging their wines.

Their
History

Famiglia Losi | Since 1870

Many of you probably already know Valeria. She is a fifth-generation winemaker, along with her brother Riccardo and their father, Pietro, owners of the Losi family winery. Each year they produce approximately 100,000 bottles of wine, using skills passed down through generations. The Losi family traces its origins back to 1870, and its then head of the family was named Emilio Losi. In 1963, the Losi family joined the Chianti Classico Wine Consortium and began bottling under their own brand.

Today, the family still cultivates vines and olive trees on the Fontino and Querciavalle estates, near the ancient monastery of the Certosa di Pontignano. The family estate is located on the southern edge of the Chianti Classico region, south of Siena.
